Family, friends, local community and giving back are all vitally important to my personal success and fulfilment.
Since retiring I have been felt very privileged to give so much more back to causes that mean a lot to me.
Causes I am involved with:
I am extremely proud to sit on the Board of KasCare. KasCare has a number of programs and projects that we run to provide support and brings hope and comfort to children worldwide, who are orphaned, abandoned or traumatised.
KasCare seeks to transform the lives of these children and how we think about these issues, by connecting people through creativity and the desire to make a difference in a practical and real way. KasCare has a number of programs and projects that we run to provide.
I am a Volunteer Fire Fighter with the CFA and also serve on the Brigade Management Team of my local Brigade as Treasurer. As a rural fire brigade, we mainly respond to grassfires and bushfires over summer, but also turnout to car accidents/road accident rescue incidents as well as house and shed fires.
I am also on the Community Safety and Support team, working with residents and land owners in the community to help them prepare their properties and fire plans to keep their families safe and, where possible, to increase the chance of us saving their animals and homes.
Extended Families Australia provides meaningful and lasting volunteer support to children a disability and their families. The main role of an Extended Families volunteer is to provide friendship and support to a child who has a disability and their family.
As a volunteer I am matched with a child who suffers from a server disability. Through visits, friendship and family support, I hope to create opportunities for the child to participate in the local community, enhance their life experiences, feel valued and, ultimately, reach their individual potential.
Mirabel assists children who have been orphaned or abandoned due to parental illicit drug use and are now in the care of extended family (kinship care).
As a volunteer I assist in organised group outings for boys aged 10-18.
